“Hi! We are the Mattos Family - Daniel, Stefanie, Remy & Delaney. Daniel and I were married in 2013 and after a year of infertility, we decided that God was guiding us toward adoption. We started the process of private adoption in October of 2016 and by October 2017 we were placed with our oldest daughter, Remy. She spent a month in the NICU due to complications, but we were finally able to bring her home when she was 1 month old. She spent the first few months in a chronic state of unrest due to those complications but was thankfully able to grow healthy and strong!

However, during her early years she suffered from extreme tantrums lasting 45 minutes to an hour with no rest. Since age 4, she has also dealt with behavioral tics that have impeded her ability to concentrate at school. Despite all of these issues, she is extremely bright, a true empath and has overcome so many obstacles in her short 7 years!

Our youngest daughter, Delaney, came to us through foster care in 2021. We had been on a waiting list for private adoption for almost 2 years and we thought maybe God didn’t want us to have a second child. Then, out of the blue, we got a text from a friend of a friend who was desperately looking for a home for her niece. Delaney was in foster care due to neglect and they wanted to find her a permanent place to call home. A month later, we became her foster parents! She came to us at 10 months old and was malnourished and had multiple health issues. Despite that, she was the most positive, giggly child and has been since being with us! She loves everyone she meets and is a friend to all. She continues to have some health issues, ADHD-type behavior, and an extremely taxed nervous system.
